GIRL SCOUT SUNDAY
On Sunday, March 9, the Green Hill congregation will be joined at morning worship by the girls and the parents from Girl Scout Troops #9296 and #9338. Girl Scout Sunday is designated as the day to commemorate the founding of the Girl Scouts of America in 1912 and to recognize the contributions Scouts make to their churches and their communities.
All local scouts, both boys and girls, are welcome to attend, and are encouraged to wear their uniforms. Following the service cake and punch will be served in the Fellowship Hall. Please join us to welcome our scouting families.
PIZZA & GAMES
On Wednesday, March 12, from 5:30 to 7pm, we will set aside our regular Bible Study for a special Pizza & Game night. Bring your favorite games to play and to share. All ages are invited to this exciting event. Please fill out a reservation slip (found in the pew rack) or contact the church office so we know how much pizza to order. Cost is just $3 per adult, $1 per child, and Free for those six and under. Remember, this is a great time to invite your neighbors and friends to Green Hill Presbyterian Church.
FROM DAN AND ANITA
We have been strengthened with God’s grace through the prayers and cards and shared thoughts from so many members of our Green Hill family at the recent passing of Anita’s brother, J.D. Our spirits were particularly lifted when we were surprised with the beautiful flower arrangement that represented Green Hill at JD’s memorial service, February 8th. Thank you, Green Hill, for reaching out to us with your warmth and kindness. We shall always be grateful.
The 40 days of Lent that lead to Easter are the most sacred and spiritually powerful in the Christian calendar. From Ash Wednesday, through Good Friday, and on to Easter, Lent is a time when Christians are invited to examine their faith, and deepen the commitment to live the Christian life.
During this season of Lent, you are invited to join us in 40 days of prayer. Starting on Ash Wednesday, March 5, and running through Easter Sunday, April 20, we ask that all of the members of our congregation take some time each day to pray. You may make this part of your regular quiet time, or set aside another part of your day for these special prayers.
If you would like to pray along with other members of our congregation, please join us in the church Sanctuary. On Ash Wednesday, we will begin with a special evening prayer time during the Wednesday Bible Study.
For the remaining days of Lent, we will meet from 9am to 10am, Monday to Friday. To start we will light a candle and have an opening prayer. During the hour, you are welcome to come and leave at any time. Printouts of suggested prayers will be available.
It is our hope that this observance of Lent will give our members the opportunity to truly connect with God as we prepare to recognize the death and the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
