GIRL SCOUT SUNDAY
This Saturday, March 12, is the 104th anniversary of the founding of Girl Scouting in America. On Sunday, March 13, Green Hill will celebrate Girl Scout Sunday, a time for Girl Scouts to be recognized in their places of worship and to focus on the meaning of “To Serve God” in the Girl Scout Promise.
Girl Scout Troop #9338 began in 2009 with six Daisy Girl Scouts. Over the years the troop has gained and lost both scouts and leaders, but it has remained focused on developing girls of courage, confidence, and character. Last year we had three Juniors earn their Bronze Awards, and this year we have four more beginning their Bronze Project. The Bronze Award is the highest award available at the Junior level. We are so proud of our girls!
BRONZE AWARD PROJECT
Over the past year our four Juniors have fallen in love with the animals at the Big Bend Wildlife Sanctuary, and they have contributed many volunteer hours taking care of the animals. As part of their Bronze Award Project, the girls are helping to spread the word about the Sanctuary and helping the Sanctuary to prepare for upcoming events. Right now the scouts are creating art and collecting art for the Sanctuary’s “Wild About Art” event.
