Green Hill Girl Scouts
Balloonfest '86 was a 1986 event in which the United Way of Cleveland in Ohio set a world record by releasing almost one-and-a-half million balloons. The event was intended to be a harmless fundraising publicity stunt, but the balloons drifted back over the city, Lake Erie, and landed in the surrounding area, and caused problems for traffic and a nearby airport. The event also interfered with a United States Coast Guard search for two boaters who were later found drowned. In consequence, the organizers and the city faced lawsuits seeking millions of dollars in damages, and cost overruns put the event at a net loss. #balloonrelease
Emma has earned her @girlscouts "Think Like a Programmer" badge! She not only knows how to get a computer to follow commands, she now knows how to write her own short programs! Way to go Girl Scout!
Kendall has spent the past year volunteering with the @enterpriseairpuppyrescue and has contributed more than enough hours to earn the @girlscouts Senior Service to Comminuty bar. She doesn't do it for the recognition, but it is nice to reward her for her effort!

Tens of thousands of rubber latex deathtraps will be tossed into the environment during spring migration from the center of the United States. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway plans to continue their destructive balloon release tradition during their pre-race celebration of the Indy 500.
For 72 years this environmental vandalism has continued despite decades of public disapproval. Balloon releases waste finite Helium & wreak havoc on land & sea as the latex remnants fall as pollution & threaten animals who consume the colorful trash. It’s time for this willful mass littering to end.
