Though November is a month known for Thanksgiving feasts and Black Friday bargains, unfortunately, not every family across the Wiregrass can afford to put food on their tables. But Enterprise’s Boy Scout Troop 150 is teaming up with Walmart and Green Hill Presbyterian Church to make sure that hunger stays off a family’s list of concerns this holiday season.
Troop 150 will be holding its annual “Stuff the Bus” event this Saturday, Nov. 4 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in front of Enterprise’s Walmart Supercenter. A school bus commissioned to hold donations will be parked in the grocery store’s parking lot, and a group of 20 boys between the ages of 10 and 18 will be handing out shopping lists, accepting donations, and stocking the bus for the needy. All donations will go toward filling the Enterprise area food pantry located at Green Hill Presbyterian Church. According to Sonja Safadi, who is working with Troop 150 to promote and hold the event, a list of needed items will be given to shoppers at the door, but any and all donations will be welcome.
For those who want to get an early start on “stuffing the bus,” a preliminary shopping list has been provided by Troop 150.
