Green Hill Good News Online Edition for May 2018
Thank God for Mother’s Love
There is no love, like a mother’s love,
no stronger bond on earth…
like the precious bond that comes from God,
to a mother, when she gives birth.
A mother’s love is forever strong,
never changing for all time…
and when her children need her most,
a mother’s love will shine.
God bless these special mothers,
God bless them every one…
for all the tears and heartache,
and for the special work they’ve done.
When her days on earth are over,
a mother’s love lives on…
through many generations,
with God’s blessings on each one.
Be thankful for our mothers,
for they love with a higher love…
from the power God has given,
and the strength from up above.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
Are you interested in helping out with this year’s Vacation Bible School? We will hold VBS the last week of June, the 25th to the 29th. We need volunteers to help with sign-up as the children come in, a teacher for the Bible lessons, a crafty person to help with projects, an active person to teach songs/choreography, someone to serve snacks, and more. Do any of these people sound like you? Keep an eye out for the sign up list.
NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER, MAY 3
The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. This year the National Day of Prayer falls on Thursday, May 3. The City of Enterprise will host an event on the steps of City Hall, beginning at Noon. Everyone is invited to attend.
BELK CHARITY DAY SALE
Tickets are now available for the next Belk Charity Day Sale! The sale will be held at the Dothan location on May 5, from 6am to 10am. To attend, you must purchase a $5 ticket from one of the members of the Presbyterian Women at Green Hill. This very special ticket will not only get you admission to the sale, but it also acts as a coupon to get you $5 off of your first purchase. That’s in addition to getting the already marked discounts of 20% to 70% off! And, that little ticket just keeps on working because the money for all of the tickets sold at Green Hill goes to the Green Hill PW. The Belk Charity Day Sale is a major contributor to the mission budget of the Presbyterian Women ministry.
2018 WOMEN’S BIRTHDAY OFFERING
We are given many different opportunities for giving and sharing. Among those giving opportunities is one that’s right at hand. It is our 2018 “Welcome to This Place” – Birthday Offering. In the place of our birthday lunch this year we are asking you to use the yellow envelopes placed in the pews or simply notate on your check the amount you wish to give to this offering.
This offering is received in the spring and this year the three mission projects are:
• Cottage Village, a Tiny–house Community for Low-income rural Residents in Cottage Grove, Oregon.
• Village of Grace Center for Physical and Spiritual Health in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. It will offer international hospitality for retreats, workshops and mission teams from the Presbyterian Church, Solar under the Sun and Living Waters for the World Synods.
• Dwelling Place in Minneapolis and St. Paul Minnesota. It will purchase land where they will construct a multi-use building with spaces suitable for large and small group programming, one on one case management, safe living space and staff offices to serve women and children seeking-safety from violent partners.
We ask that you give as you have been blessed and as led by the Holy Spirit.
BABY BOTTLE FUNDRAISER
Please join us in celebrating and supporting mothers in our community with the Wiregrass Emergency Pregnancy Service (WEPS) annual Baby Bottle Fund-raiser. The process is simple: Just pick up a bottle at the church on Mother’s Day, keep it at home over the next month to fill with your loose change, and then bring it back to the church on Father’s Day. Your support will help provide free testing, guidance, education, and material support for the mothers who are most in need.
