PASTOR’S CORNER
“My, how time flies!”
LENT is just around the corner as we prepare to move from January to February; the last Wednesday of the month (26th) is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of the new Season of Lent—the 40 days preceding Holy Week (April 5-11) and Easter Sunday (April 12th).
As we close out January, you can already see the days growing steadily longer. It is no longer dark at 5 p.m. and kids are already breaking out their bats and gloves for the new season, even as the weather gives us some Winter days!
February brings us other events as well. We will begin the month at the Communion Table on the first Sunday, February 2nd when we focus on Jesus’ only sermon which contains the essence of his teachings; the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5 and following. We will celebrate our Troop 150 and Cub Pack 150 on Scout Sunday, February 9th. And Dee and I will swap pulpits on the 16th ahead of President’s Day (when we celebrate the combined birthdays of our Presidents).
So, let’s get ready, Green Hill! The New Year marches on!

GIRL SCOUT COOKIES
Girl Scout cookies are here! Kendall, Makayla, and Emma are ready to sell you a box today! All three girls are working together to share sales, so an order placed with any one of them will benefit all three. Thank you to Green Hill for your continued support of our Girl Scouts!
SCOUTS BSA SUNDAY
On Sunday, February 9, Green Hill will celebrate Scouts BSA Sunday during the morning worship service. Scouts BSA Sunday is designated as the day to commemorate the founding of the Boy Scouts of America in 1910 and to recognize the contributions BSA Scouts make to their churches and their communities. All local BSA Scouts are invited to attend, and are encouraged to wear their uniforms.
(Girl Scout Sunday for Girl Scouts of the United States of America will be held next month, on March 8.)
