PASTOR’S CORNER
Dear Green Hill:
The “April Showers” I spoke of last month materialized as tears for our separation from one another! How I miss seeing all of you in Bible Study and Worship! It is really not the same, this separation from one another. We were made for COMMUNITY, as the Body of Christ at work in the world.
I don’t remember a time in my life when separation from one another was the new reality that we had to accept. But absent community-wide testing, and a tested vaccine, our health authorities say it is the ONLY way to curb the spread of this deadly virus. So, we have complied: I have had to stare at myself as I tape our services, instead of your lovely faces, and you have had to put up with not seeing the familiar Sanctuary for our worship.
Worst still, I have missed our Wednesday evening sharing of the Scriptural passages for the next Sunday, and your suggestions for the themes they present us.
But, “HOPE springs eternal,” and our hope is that soon our Governor and local health officials will enable us (as a smaller congregation) to re-gather in our church—and whenever that happens, it truly will be “Easter Sunday”! Until then, be safe, and know that you are loved—and missed!
David
ONLINE WORSHIP
We hope that all of you have been joining us on Sundays for Sunday School and Morning Worship. We can’t be together in person but we can be together in spirit.
Rev. Jamison has been sharing these videos on Facebook, but you do not have to have a Facebook account to view them. Just go to the church website, http://www.greenhillpc.com, and click on the “Online Worship Services” link at the top of the page. This will open a list of all of the videos that have been posted since we started on this adventure, back on March 29. Click on the link for the video you want to view, and it will open up on your computer screen.
Be sure to check out the rest of the posts on the front page of the church website. We have been continuing our “Footsteps of Jesus” series of photos. Also, the Scripture readings and the Sunday bulletins are always posted on Saturday, so you can prepare for Worship on Sunday.
A PRAYER FOR OUR GRADUATES
Heavenly Father,
Surround those who are graduating with your grace. Bless them with hope so that they move into the future with eager and open hearts. Help them to put the knowledge, skills, and insights gained through their education for the good of all mankind. Inspire them to believe in the goodness of life even when faced with challenges and difficulties. As they commence with their lives, may they grow even more grateful and wise.
Amen.
