FROM THE PASTOR’S CORNER

Can you believe that LABOR DAY is just 2 weeks away? Wow, how time passes!

We plan for Green Hill to have an active Fall Season, even though it is hard to say when things will be back anywhere close to “normal”. However, at present, we will continue our Worship Services at 11 am on Sundays, “live” and “virtual” on Facebook, and our Wednesday evening Bible Studies on Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. In between we host our Boy Scout and Girl Scout programs on campus, as well as host our community Home School coordinators. And, perhaps this Fall, we will be the site of a Girl Scout Gold Project to create a butterfly garden on our front lawn!

We are also planning a “Blessing of the Animals” service in October as well as our, now-annual, “Breakfast ‘Thank You’ for 1st Responders” and, of course, our highlight of all of our military on Veteran’s Sunday in November.

Stay tuned! Green Hill is alive and well!

GREEN HILL POLLINATOR GARDEN

Kendall’s Gold Award Project proposal is progressing. She has received initial approval. On Sunday, September 27, she will travel up to Montgomery to present her proposal in person before the Girl Scout Gold Award Committee at the Council office. At that point she should receive the final approval she needs to begin work. Once her project is complete, not only should Green Hill have a beautiful garden on the front of the hill, but Kendall will have created an instruction manual for other churches to plant pollinator gardens on their properties as well as a lesson plan for children to learn how to plant their own smaller pollinator gardens at home.

IN LOVING MEMORY OF BILL DYESS

Bill Dyess went home to be with our Lord on the morning of Wednesday, August 19. Funeral arrangements are being coordinated with Searcy Funeral Home and will be announced as soon as they are set. Please keep Barbara and the rest of the family in your prayers as they go through this difficult time.

BABY BOTTLE BOOMERANG

The annual “Baby Bottle Boomerang” fundraiser usually held by the Wiregrass Emergency Pregnancy Services between Mothers’ Day and Fathers’ Day each year wasn’t able to happen because of COVID-19. So, they are holding the fundraiser now instead. Just like before, you can pick up a baby bottle on the table in the Fellowship Hall. Over the next couple of months, drop any loose change you have in your pockets at the end of each day into the bottle. Then, on October 18, bring the bottles back to the church. We will make sure the bottles get back to WEPS.
