From time to time our Sunday worship bulletin has a picture of a location in the Holy Land that ties into the morning’s Scripture reading. This week’s bulletin will show the Rock of Horeb that some believe is the actual rock God commanded Moses to strike to bring forth water. The two-minute video above shows several places that are believed to be locations of the events recorded in the book of Exodus, ending with the Rock of Horeb. As you watch the video, think about the Israelite community arguing with Moses, “Why did you bring us up out of Egypt to make us and our children and livestock die of thirst?” This event is from the first lesson in this week’s Scripture readings, all of which the stage for Sunday’s Sermon, “Testing! Testing! Testing!”
