Girl Scout Sunday 2020

On Sunday, March 8, many of the Girl Scouts from Service Unit 923 got together at Green Hill Presbyterian Church to recognize Girl Scout Sunday.  The Girl Scouts opened the service with a flag ceremony, they acted as ushers, they sang “On My Honor,” and they even got the whole congregation to sing along to “Softly Falls.” After the service there was a reception with refreshments, including, of course, Girl Scout cookies. This is the 10th year Green Hill has hosted Girl Scout Sunday and the congregation looks forward to doing it for many years to come.

Girl Scout Sunday, March 8, 2020

In March of each year, Girl Scouts take time to recognize the anniversary of the founding of the very first Girl Scout Troop. This year the Girl Scout organization is celebrating its 108th anniversary!  Part of this annual celebration is Girl Scout Sunday which is a time for Girl Scouts to be recognized in their places of worship and for them to reflect on the importance of the words “To Serve God” in the Girl Scout Promise.  During this week many girls will work on the requirements to earn the “My Promise, My Faith” pin and other religious awards.

The mission of the Girl Scout Organization is to build girls of courage, confidence, and character. More than 50 million American women have participated in Girl Scouting, and that number continues to grow as Girl Scouts of the USA continues to inspire, challenge, and empower girls everywhere.

All area Girl Scouts are invited to attend the morning worship service at Green Hill Presbyterian Church. Coffee and light breakfast foods will be available in the Fellowship Hall beginning at 10:30am. The Worship Service begins at 11:00am. At Noon, we will have cookies and soda in the Fellowship Hall. All girls are asked to wear their uniforms.

Don’t forget to double check your watch!

This is the first day of Daylight Savings. We don’t want you to be late!

We’re 2.5 million strong—1.7 million girls and 750,000 adults who believe in the power of every G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader)™ to change the world. Our extraordinary journey began more than 100 years ago with the original G.I.R.L., Juliette Gordon “Daisy” Low. On March 12, 1912, in Savannah, Georgia, she organized the very first Girl Scout troop, and every year since, we’ve honored her vision and legacy, building girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place. We’re the preeminent leadership development organization for girls. And with programs from coast to coast and across the globe, Girl Scouts offers every girl a chance to practice a lifetime of leadership, adventure, and success.
